Welding Technology Students Earn NC3 Industry Certifications
May 6, 2022 – Brunswick Community College Welding Technology students were congratulated by President Gene Smith on the NC3 industry certifications earned as part of their studies at BCC. Some students earned as many as 12 certifications in cooperation with NC3 industry partners.
The Welding Technology curriculum provides students with a sound understanding of the science, technology, and applications essential for successful employment in the welding and metalworking industry. BCC offers both Diploma and Certificate options.
The Welding Technology Certificate program is specifically designed to help students get ahead in their professional field of interest and is a stepping stone to those who may want to pursue a Welding Technology Associate Diploma.
Instruction for the Diploma program includes consumable and non-consumable electrode welding and cutting processes. Courses may include math, print reading, metallurgy, welding inspection, and destructive and non- destructive testing providing the student with industry-standard skills developed through classroom training and practical application.
Graduates of the Welding Technology curriculum may be employed as entry-level technicians in welding and metalworking industries. Career opportunities also exist in construction, manufacturing, fabrication, sales, quality control, supervision, and welding-related self-employment.
