BCC Names September Students of the Month

Welding students and student of the month honorees in a group photo taken in the welding lab

Brunswick Community College President Dr. Gene Smith has announced Michaela Johnson and Noah McLain as Students of the Month for September. Both students are enrolled in BCC’s Welding program and were nominated by their instructor, Dick Bowie, for their hard work, ingenuity, and initiative.

Michaela and Noah recently applied their skills to a real-world project during the Library renovations on BCC’s main campus. Tasked with modifying the height of the library bookshelves, they collaborated with their instructor to develop an efficient process that would deliver high-quality results. Together, they created a fixture that ensured consistent work and seamless craftsmanship. Their efforts shortened the bookshelf frames to the desired height while leaving no visible evidence of modification other than the new dimensions.

Working tirelessly, Michaela and Noah completed the project ahead of schedule. Congratulations to Michaela Johnson and Noah McLain on this well-deserved honor. Their achievements reflect the strength of BCC’s Welding program and the college’s commitment to student success.
