BCC Celebrates Electrical Lineworker Graduates Prepared to Power Up Their Future

July 2025 Electrical Lineworker graduates

Brunswick Community College proudly celebrated the graduation of its most recent Electrical Lineworker class during a ceremony held last week at the Virginia Williamson Event Center. Surrounded by family, friends, and industry supporters, we recognized graduates for completing an intensive 10-week, 400-hour training program designed to prepare them for entry into the high-demand electrical utility industry.

BCC President Dr. Gene Smith welcomed attendees and congratulated students on their achievement. Program Director Marilyn Graham led the ceremony, and Instructor Kenneth Blanchard highlighted the work of each student, with graduate Bryan Cruz delivering remarks on behalf of his classmates. Blanchard joined Dr. Smith in presenting Certificates of completion, and Vice President of Continuing Education and Economic & Workforce Development Greg Bland provided closing remarks.

Throughout the course, students received hands-on training in a variety of essential skills and safety protocols, earning certifications in 3M Safety, Competent Person Trenching, and CDL permit preparation. We’ve aligned the curriculum with the standards set by the Carolinas Energy Workforce Consortium, ensuring that graduates possess the knowledge and credentials necessary to succeed in the field. Job interviews are held for graduates following program completion, creating a direct pipeline to employment.

BCC extends sincere thanks to Brunswick Electric Membership Corporation for their ongoing partnership and commitment to supporting the next generation of lineworkers.
