BCC Awards 21 Credentials as Part of Access to Achievement Initiative

21 BIP Students proudly display new 3M Safety credentials earned as part of Access to Achievement Initiative

On Tuesday, January 14th, Brunswick Community College awarded 21 credentials to students enrolled in the Access to Achievement initiative. These students successfully completed the 3M Safety course and passed certification exams focused on workplace safety and personal protective equipment. Brunswick Community College acknowledges the critical role early education plays in promoting workplace health and safety for all people. The range of health and safety hazards workers face is broad and complex.

Administered in partnership with the National Coalition of Certification Centers, this educational program aims to enhance students’ understanding of fundamental workplace health and safety principles, common hazards, and the appropriate PPE needed to perform their jobs safely. Students mastered three key topics:

  • Respiratory hazards
  • Hearing hazards
  • Head, Eye, and Face hazards

Access to Achievement is a vital part of North Carolina’s workforce development strategy. By providing individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) the skills and support they need, the program contributes to building a more inclusive and diverse talent pipeline.
