A Decade of Impact: Bella Italia Gala Celebrates 10 Years of Student Support
More than 300 guests gathered at the Sea Trail Convention Center on February 7 for the 10th Annual Bella Italia Gala, hosted by The Foundation of Brunswick Community College. The evening blended fine dining, fellowship, and philanthropy, all centered on one purpose: supporting BCC students and their success.
BCC President Gene Smith welcomed guests to the milestone celebration, followed by remarks from Foundation Executive Director Teresa Nelson and Brunswick County Commissioner Mike Forte, who also serves as President of the Foundation Board of Directors. Together, they reflected on ten years of generosity that continues to open doors for students across Brunswick County.
The most powerful moments of the evening came from BCC Student Ambassadors Joseph Heiligenthaler and Patrice Beasley, who shared personal stories of how scholarships and donor support have shaped their educational journeys. Their words were heartfelt reminders that every gift creates opportunity, stability, and confidence for students working toward their goals.
“The Bella Italia Gala is a celebration of the partnership between The Foundation, our generous donors, and the students and community we serve,” said Nelson. “Together, we’re making dreams come true every day in the form of scholarships, travel abroad opportunities, mentorships, and help when unexpected challenges arise. There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing a student succeed.”
Guests enjoyed a beautifully prepared five-course Italian meal, thoughtfully paired with wines, creating an immersive and elegant culinary experience. The event was made possible through the generosity of Presenting Sponsors Dinah E. Gore, Myong and Paul Jensen, Teresa McLamb, along with many dedicated sponsors and supporters.
For 10 years, Bella Italia has done more than host a memorable evening. It has fueled scholarships, strengthened programs, and ensured that BCC students have the support they need to thrive. And the future looks even brighter.
