BCC Graduates Class of Pre Apprentice Lineworkers
While National Apprenticeship Week isn’t until next month, BCC is already celebrating with seven pre-apprentices from its Electrical Lineworker Program. The graduation ceremony on Monday, October 17, marked the successful completion of the rigorous 400-hour training program established by BCC in collaboration with Brunswick Electric Membership Corporation.
BCC’s accelerated 10-week Pre Apprenticeship program includes competency based instruction that prepares the next generation of electrical lineworkers with the certifications and skills that employers expect.
While this career path may not be for everyone, it is for Corbin Sink, Ian Evans, Frederick Bryant, Brendon Patterson, Ryan DeJong, Emory Ellis, and Joshua Johnson. In addition to gaining valuable leadership and teamwork skills, the graduates earned more than a dozen certifications. These included Wood Pole Climbing, Pole Top Rescue, Bucket Rescue, Flagger Credential, Competent Person Trenching & Shoring, 811 Pipes Plus, Greenlee Three Phase Testing, Greenlee Service Level Termination, Greenlee Branch and Series Level Termination, 3M Head, Eye & Face Protection, 3M Hearing Protection, Forklift, CPR/First Aid, and OSHA Ten Pocket Card. All seven graduates have received job offers and are on their way to exciting and well-paying careers.
The next series of classes begins in January, and scholarship opportunities are available. Please visit our website Trades – Brunswick Community College (brunswickcc.edu), contact BCC’s One Stop [email protected] , or call 910-755-7320 to learn more about the program.
