LPN to ADN Transition Option – Associate Degree (A45110T)

The LPN to ADN Transition Program provides Licensed Practical Nurses the opportunity to return to BCC and complete coursework to become a Registered Nurse. This three-semester program consists of in-person class instruction along with a clinical component for each course. Course work includes and builds upon the domains of healthcare, nursing practice, and the holistic individual. Content emphasizes the nurse as a member of the interdisciplinary team providing safe, individualized care while employing evidence-based practice, quality improvement, and informatics. Students should be able to utilize the nursing process to deliver safe nursing care for a diverse group of individuals with complex alterations in health.

Graduates of this program are eligible to apply to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN). Employment opportunities are vast within the global health care system and may include positions within acute, chronic, extended, industrial, and community health care facilities.

Applicants applying to the LPN to ADN Transition program must have:

• Documentation of a minimum of 1-year experience providing direct patient care within the past 2-years. Waived for LPNs who graduated within the last year.
• Must possess a current and unencumbered North Carolina Practical Nurse License or multi-state Practical Nurse License.
• GPA of 2.5 or higher
• BIO 163 may not be substituted for BIO 168 & 169

Once accepted in the LPN to ADN Transition Nursing Program, the students will be awarded credit for the following courses.

The following courses are completed as part of the LPN to ADN Transition program.

Students must complete all non-nursing courses with a grade of “C” or better. 

Students must also achieve an overall exam average of 80 or higher in all nursing (NUR) courses.
