Cultivating Skills and Confidence in Horticulture

The Brunswick Blooms Greenhouse and Gift Shop offers students a unique and enriching experience in horticulture. Through this program, students gain hands-on knowledge about plant care while also receiving an introduction to customer service and sales. The greenhouse serves as both an educational environment and a space where students can take pride in their work, fostering a sense of accomplishment and community.

Annual Plant Sales and Daily Greenhouse Activities

Our students are actively involved in every aspect of greenhouse management, from planting and nurturing plants to organizing and running biannual plant sales. These sales, held in the fall and spring, are highly anticipated events where students showcase their hard work and dedication. Participating in these activities not only enhances their horticultural skills but also builds their confidence and customer service abilities.

Enhanced Accessibility and Opportunities

Thanks to a generous $1,500 grant from the Brunswick Electric Membership Corporation (BEMC), we have been able to make our greenhouse even more accessible and enjoyable for our students. The grant has allowed us to create wheelchair-accessible garden beds and install a unique, oversized umbrella to provide much-needed shade. These enhancements ensure that more students can participate in and benefit from the greenhouse activities.

Working in the greenhouse is a favorite activity among our students, offering numerous benefits beyond just educational growth. It brings joy and satisfaction as students support plant sales and take home fresh vegetables they have helped cultivate.
