BCC Students Inspire Philanthropy at Annual Event
The Foundation of Brunswick Community College (BCC) recently hosted the Women in Philanthropy & Leadership of Brunswick (WPLB) for their Annual Membership Dinner at Odell Williamson Auditorium. The event featured a welcome from BCC Foundation Executive Director Teresa Nelson and remarks from BCC President Gene Smith, BCC Board of Trustees Chair Alan Holden, and BCC Foundation Board President Representative Mike Forte.
The evening was dedicated to celebrating student success, a theme that resonated throughout the event. The room was filled with inspiring stories of scholarship recipients and Student Ambassadors. The highlight of the evening was speeches from two exceptional students, Erin Howdershelt and Kylea Dowler. Both students shared personal challenges and triumphs and expressed their appreciation to the WPLB and the many other donors for making their college education at BCC a reality.
The students’ stories were not just narratives; they were testaments to the impact of philanthropy. They underscored the transformative effect of education and the crucial role of the Foundation in making it accessible. “These student stories, filled with both need and success, were a powerful reminder of the importance of our work,” said Nelson. “We are privileged to have a hand in helping such exceptional people and look forward to watching them make their mark.”
