Friday’s graduation marked a significant milestone for everyone who helped introduce the Natural Hair Care program at BCC. After completing more than 300 hours of training, the program’s first six graduates made history at BCC. With much emotion and pride, the graduates spoke about how happy they were to complete the program, enabling them to make a better life for themselves and their families.

Greg Bland, Vice President of Continuing Education & Economic Workforce Development, officiated the ceremony. Joining him were Program Director Takesha Grady, Instructor Justine Bellamy, and Onya Gardner, Dean of Continuing Education & Economic Workforce Development.

Graduates included: Alicia Bowden, Sh’tia Brown, Talisha Green, Tatyana Pelham, Daidra Stanley, and Ajaih Sumpter. Congratulations to all!

The Natural Hair Care program at BCC is a 300-hour NC State board-approved course. It is designed to teach students how to care for natural hair without using chemicals such as perms/relaxers and hair color. The style techniques include braiding, twisting, wrapping, extending, and locking natural hair.
